I have tracfone - he's welcome to my third-class number 'cause I'll drop it like a sock if I decide it's getting too many telemarketing calls.

Good choice! Looking around the 'nets, I'm surprised to see how many people signed up for the text. Many of the same people who made fun of the idea, too. I figured the news guys would have been the first to sign up, so I'd know quickly enough anyhow. Oh well. At least it's not Bayh, huh? I expect we'll see McCain try for the same kind of buildup, but really, does the press care to go through this again for such little payoff?

It was brilliant for the Obama camp to get unpublished cell phone numbers. GOTV will be a lot easier with those numbers.

Mines a work phone that I rarely use and don't pay for.

Like I said...I learned how to text when I texted in "VP" to the Obama camp. However, I have not received my fucking text yet. And I wanted so badly to feel important.

The wife got pissed at me when I took ourselves off Obama's mailing list for his FISA vote (my little protest). She thinks I protest too much. I told her I would sign back up when we know his running mate, after the convention and give him some money then. She couldn't stand not to be on the text alert... so she signed us back up.

It was a brilliant ploy, I think, to get all those numbers. Like Anjha said, it makes her feel important, a part of the process. It worked, too, judging by all the people who signed up for it, a generation raised on ringtones and text messaging jacked into the game. Pretty cool. Even if the prize ended up being just an old white guy with a smart mouth!

Looks like I waited till the right time to rejoin the world. I’ve been a bystander, not necessarily an innocent one but a bystander nevertheless. You all experienced all the angst of awaiting the announcement of Obama’s VP choice for me. I’ve had to consider whether my angst would have made a difference in the choice. I’ve decided that I do not feel that self important. Regardless, I understand that it was my responsibility to anguish alongside everyone else. So Biden it is! At least I get to rejoin at the beginning of a new stage of the effort.

I took myself oof Obama's email list mid-primarys when I started getting 3 or 4 emails a day looking for donations and when the tone of the attacks on CLinton got a little nast for my liking.

Didn't sign up for the text thing. Found out at about 8am when I picked up my Blackberry in the morning and I already had an email from MoveOn.org looking for support for Obama/Biden.

But I knew it was gonna be Biden anyway.
