"You've covered your ass"

Seven years. Hard to believe, huh?

The only things these criminals have been competent at is raiding the tresuary and motivating the Democratic base. Is it going to be enough to win in Nov.?

I really wonder how Clinton would be doing in the national polls if she had been the victor?

snark said...

You can bet she'd be ripping McCain a new asshole every chance she got.

Seven of Six said...

Yeah snark, I don't get it! Obama acts like Dachle, "cream puffs at 40 paces!"

iamcoyote said...

Funny you should say Dachle, he's prolly gonna be Obama's VP.

Seven of Six said...

OMG, we need somebody to fight back, not whimper and sulk in the corner!

I think I misspelled his name... isn't it Daschle?

I'm to the point where I want Clinton, we need Clinton. Her and Bill would put them fuckers down in a heartbeat!

snark said...

If he picks Daschle he's done.

iamcoyote said...

Then it's pretty much set in stone, eh? 'Cos he seems to be making the most obviously bad choices so far. Gotta say, it's pretty funny to see SoS looking for Clinton to save us after what went down. And it's absolutely hilarious watching how quickly everyone turned on him after the FISA vote. We frikkin' get what we deserve at this point.

You're right! I'm trying to be optimistic but he plays shitty hand of poker!!

I have to admit, I loved his overseas trip. He hit his 3 pointer, he was right on all the issues, the American flags being waved in Berlin... awesome. Something is just gnawing at me, he should be blowing McCryptkeeper out of the water. I really think he is... it might all be MSM. Who knows... but when I read crap like this at dkos, I wanna puke...

This is an opportunity I can't pass up: to be part of the biggest, strongest, smartest, most creative and most grassroots-oriented field campaign every put together for a Presidential candidate. It is truly a visionary effort, one that will be analyzed and held up as an example for years to come. It represents what we've been demanding from Democratic politics, using technology to maximize civic engagement toward progressive policy goals. If it works as well as I hope it will, we'll see a lot of blue on election night. Even better, we will have trained a new generation of organizers in all 50 states and built a movement to support the big policy changes we need.

Please, tell me I didn't worship his ass like that! Hide the guns... oh shit, I got lots of pills... help...

iamcoyote said...

Sounds like a commercial for a new toothpaste. Oh well. We're stuck with him.

Jesus Rollerblading Christ, I almost puked reading that! This guy is taking the same Big Oil money and all the other Corporate Lobbyist money that the old man's taking. This is nothing new. God, that's bad.

And yes, the Clinton Machine would AT LEAST be putting the wrinkly grey-haired guy on the defensive with at least 2 talking points a week. No way she's his running mate, though. Evan Bayh, the Gov of Kansas though that would be too obvious a reach for Hillary fans choosing a woman, I don't know, I forget the other names being floated. George Clooney?

iamcoyote said...

I'd vote for Clooney. For prez even. If we're gonna have an actor in there, might as well get one that can actually act.

Anonymous said...

In that case, I'm nominating Sean Penn. That dude was in a rowboat with Matt Taibbi pulling people from the water after Katrina before anybody else was on the scene. Plus have you seen him play Huey Long in "All The King's Men"? He has CHARISMA, Baby!

Oh, and I forgot, I was gonna do this when I first stopped at this blog: "FREEEE BIRRRRD!!!!!"

snark said...

Joe Biden. I'm sticking with Biden.

iamcoyote said...

I'd love to have Cynthia McKinney! She'd kick ass and take names for sure!

Anonymous said...

Oh, I forgot about Biden. Holy shit, yes. Biden. May not work strategically, a New Englander, ya know, but it would sure get me more excited about the whole thing. HELL, yeah!

Seven of Six said...

Cynthia McKinney is already the Green Party candidate for President.

iamcoyote said...

Yeah, I know, and no, I'm not voting for her. Jus' sayin' is all. And I really like Biden, too. Frankly, none of them vote the way I want them to, but Biden took it to Bush during the primary, I liked that a lot. Hillary tried to, but her inept campaign and the media flurries overshadowed what she said. Sadly, the one time she tried to shout down the media, half (or more) of the blogosphere condemned her for it. Blew my mind.

Bill is not doing Hillary any favors right now.

Everyone just needs to take a deep breath and chill out....go relax, at the beach, some sand between your toes.

snark said...

Of course, everyone likes to take shots at Bill Clinton, the easy target.

Sorry, but the man is the only Democrat to win the White House in the past 20+ years.

The fact that it's any question that he should have a speaking roll at the Democratic Convention is just ridiculous.

Sorry, but Bill Clinton is not what's wrong with the Democratic Party.

Get over it.

Anonymous said...

I already said this on fookitall, but it's ridiculous that they're even THINKING about denying Bill a slot, and I want Jesse, Kucinich, Jerry Brown, Sean Penn, Zach de la Rocha, The Boss, I want some warriors up there. Biden.

Anjha said...

Get over it.

I never said anything about Bill not speaking at the convention. I don't know if there ever was a controversy about that.

I was talking about his "no one is ever really ready to be president."

That comment did not help Hillary or Obama.

Tell me, what do I need to "get over"? It just happened.

iamcoyote said...

Anjha, the poll watchers are gonna stress no matter what happens, that's what they do! Snark's right; Bill's not the problem with the dems. It's the Dems that are the problem. Still, Obama's risking a lot by trying to change everything before even getting into the White House. If his shit works, kudos, if not, he will be the second most hated person in the US behind Cheney. He's pretty dang presumptuous, really...*smirk*

snark said...

I never said anything about Bill not speaking at the convention. I don't know if there ever was a controversy about that.

It's being reported in the media as if there was some possibility that he might not speak at the convention. Have you not noticed that? The only Democratic president in the past 30 years and it seems normal that there would be some doubt that he would have a speaking roll at the convention?

I was talking about his "no one is ever really ready to be president."

It's probably the truth. There aren't to many people who'd know.

And here's the entirety of his answer to the question;

SNOW: Is he ready to be president?

CLINTON: Well, in the -- you could argue that no one is ever ready to be president. I mean, I certainly learned a lot about the job in my first year. He's shown a keen strategic sense and his ability to run an effective campaign. He clearly can inspire people and motivate people and energize them, which is a very important part of being president, and he's smart as a whip so there's nothing he can't learn.

Sorry if I can't get myself all worked up about that answer. Do you think Obama has nothing to learn about being president? Not me. Of course Clinton could have just given the answer everyone expected and just said "Yes". Personally, I like his actual answer better. But I don't have a hate on for everything Clinton.

That comment did not help Hillary or Obama.

I disagree. I think it was a bluntly honest answer and if we had more of those from politicians we'd all be better off.

Tell me, what do I need to "get over"? It just happened.

Sorry, you spoke in the collective so I thought I could do the same. I'll just go put my toes in the sand.

of course I've heard the reportings in the media - but they were assumptions and I never saw anything come out of the Obama camp that there was any question at all that Bill would have a role at the convention. I doubt there was. That would have had huge ramifications if they somehow dissed Bill Clinton at the convention. I think the media was just stirring up shit. Again.

As for Bill's answer - you're right about the "truth" of it, but I also recall interview(s) where he stated that just about every other primary candidate was "ready" but could not bring himself to say that Obama is.

Clinton has a problem with Obama that he needs to get over. It is his resentment.

I don't have "Clinton hate." I spend an awful lot of time defending the Clinton's.

I still think that Bill will go down as one of the best presidents in history. He did a tremendous amount of good.

However, there is the meme out there, especially from the Republicans, that Obama is stepping out of his place and that he has "no right" to be where he is...the same crap that they do with Michelle (she is so ungrateful when so much has been 'given' to her) and Bill Clinton continues that meme.

I am not saying that they are being 'racist'. They are acting like Obama has not earned where he is, that he had an easy ride, that he has not worked as hard as they have - and I think that it is bullshit but it feeds into all of the resentment that so many people have of the younger boss that comes in and takes over or the less qualified person who gets the promotion over you or the less good-looking person who gets your old girlfriend/boyfriend. It is really demeaning.

Obama needs to be lifted up if he is going to win this. Especially by Bill Clinton. He needs Clinton's support - not the opposite of it.

So, while his answer was "technically" true - and he backtracked after he made his first statement and tried to talk Obama up a little - it was wrong. Whether he believes it or not, for the sake of the Democratic Party that he was supposedly loyal to, he needs to talk him up.

It just showed Bill Clinton to be a vengeful guy holding onto a grudge. It was not attractive.

snark said...

Right, so it's Bill Clinton's fault.

Glad we got that cleared up.

iamcoyote said...

Obama needs to be lifted up if he is going to win this.

This kind of religious terminology gets my goat. Really turns me off from anything Obama. And the way he treated the Clintons, he should feel lucky if they do anything for him.

They are acting like Obama has not earned where he is,

I don't think he has, so I guess I agree with that meme. Sadly, whenever I said it during the primaries, I was called a racist.

Anjha said...

Nothing religious about it.

How 'bout "talked up" instead of lifted up. That's what I meant.

If you don't think that he has earned the nomination then there is nothing that will ever change your mind about him in any way. You will always dislike him and think that he had some easy route handed to him.

I think he has worked his ass off just like everyone who makes it this far - who is not part of a family dynasty like George Bush.

Bill and Hillary Clinton earned where they are. Worked their way up from nothing. Obama did too. And, he earned the nomination. He won more delegates. It's simple.

And Snark, in that particular exchange, with the ABC reporter - Bill's response was entirely his responsibility. If you want to say 'his fault' - that is fine too. I do not think that the response that he gave helped Hillary at all.

iamcoyote said...

And, he earned the nomination. He won more delegates.

I'm not arguing that at all. He won the primary; though I think that Hillary shouldn't have been given the bum's rush like she was since she provided a lot of cover for Obama.

I know you have to have high ambition to get where he's gotten, just like the Clintons. And I believe he's got all the details of his whole campaign planned out, so I'm not really sweating the polls. He's got a terrific ground game. From what I've read about him, the way he handled Hillary in the primary was the way he's handled his opponents in the past. He was working the refs then, and I think he did that behind the scenes with the Dem leadership these past four years since his speech at the '04 convention. So, yeah, he's worked hard. We're gonna need that conniving mind to win this thing. But I think he was also chosen by the Dem leadership to muscle the Clintons out altogether; there was a power struggle in the Dem leadership and they were shown the door. It was inevitable, I guess; Obama doesn't like a hint of dirt anywhere near him. The Clintons represent scandal, and that's all she wrote. I wonder if he got a heads up on Edwards, and that's why he went to Hawaii, as far as possible away from DC, without being in a furrin' land.

I don't hate the guy, either, I just find Obama boring. I'll vote for him, but that's about it. Kind of a relief, actually, we've been campaigning since '05. It's gotten old. Hillary would have been anything but boring, I believe, and though I knew that she might do some of the things Obama's doing now - I don't think so on FISA, though - I would have been very interested in what she was saying and doing. I'm not with Obama.

Oh well, water under the bridge. It became clear to me, after she won in NH, that it was not the Dem party's goal to allow her the nomination. Funny that the whole image was they were dispensing with the same old same old, and beginning with a new, non-partisan way of doing things. Having another male president, though Obama represents another minority group, will pretty much be same old same old, in my book. A woman represented real change. At least it'll be a Dem in November.

I think Pelosi's just hoping to get a majority, and wants to lie back until November, I think they all should. No new legislation until 2009 - with a majority, they could at least accomplish that, huh? I hope she doesn't think she's going to control her protege. He's got a mind of his own, and a cunning plan. I hope it works, but I'm not counting on it.

I'm in agreement... this is one calculating move by Obama and the Dem leadership but in no way can we let PUMA have their way. It would fuck this country up for years, (like it's not already).

It's unfortunate that one of the Alpha Males of the Democratic Party has to be put out to pasture. No doubt that Bill has hard feelings, I would too. It hasn't been a graceful retreat and the Dem leadership could have handled it better. Bill left a serious scar on the Dems... and as we can see now with Edwards that wound is still somewhat fresh. We really need the scab to form all over and quick.

McCryptkeeper would kill America... just write her off, move away, whatever... she'd be toast.

iamcoyote said...

You know how I feel about pumas. They're actively helping McCain. That's just fucked up. Principle shminciple, the GOP can't be allowed to win, if you have any hope of reaching your goals of equality.
