This is a truly sick world.
Dubai is a living metal metaphor for the neo-liberal globalised world that may be crashing – at last – into history.
WTF is a "neo-liberal globalised world"?
One where you have a class of people supported by the neo-Uber-Rich tribal leaders.
The wealthy tourists who come and spend their riches... along with the upper level working class.
Then the slaves who have had their passports stolen from them and are left with nothing... no way to get out, visit family or go home.
It might be a "neo-liberal globalised world" to the Muslim community but it sounds like any old, corrupt, and caste community of most other countries. And not a damn thing Liberal about it.
Ugh, slaves in the 21st century. Amazing, huh? But I don't think slavery ever went away, it just went underground - like that Austrian guy who kept his daughter in a cell. These guys are super rich, have no sense of morality we'd recognize and can buy anything. Same as it ever was.
