Open Thread

What to talk about today. Obama citizenship case will not be heard by SCOTUS. People are still dying in Iraq. Little bu$h is still pResident for another 40 some odd 42 days. And I'm still pissed at paradox for not explaining what P-Dip did wrong. Here's an open thread. And here is the rest of it.

Especially since Bagley's comment is still up. Looks like paradox had a bad Sunday and now wants to ignore it. Whatever!

I noticed that the "news" channels are hovering around that Politico "story" about progressives being pissed about Obama's "center-right" governing. Hmm. I guess it was too much to expect that the talking headlice might suddenly start reporting actual "news."

They obviously have no clue to how Obama will govern so they gotta make shit up.

A couple things I have noticed in the media lately (of course I'm sensitive to the subject) is the amount of labor bashing that is going on. Like labor is to fault for the mismanagement by the executives of auto companies. They are going overboard on the scrutiny of blue collar labor, when Wall St., white collar got none. And they got all the money!!

iamcoyote said...

SoS, that's exactly it! In an effort to attack unions, they're attacking the Joe the Plumbers and small town Sarahs that the GOP built their whole fookin' campaign around all year. Pretty dang hypocritical, and really really hateful against labor. I'm totally against the auto industry being allowed to crash; the last US industry? Gone? Stupid as hell, especially if Obama's going to put people back to work on infrastructure.

Shelby of Alabama who is on the banking committee, said "This is a bridge to now where. This is a down payment on many billions to come.”

He went on to suggest he was ready to use Senate procedure to at least slow down any auto legislation, but might not be ready to fully embrace the role of Scrooge.

“I know people want to get home for Christmas,” he said. “They want to get out of here.”

Well, excuse me Shelby, but there are workers who want to know if they have a job or not. I know it is low priority for ya, with Christmas and all.

iamcoyote said...

Shelby's such a huge dickwad! I'm sure the auto workers in AL and the others in the industry like steel workers, parts makers, etc. are really grateful that Shelby's got their backs.

You know, there's a blog setting that blocks anonymous posters, but you have to have a google mail account or have a blogger profile. 'Course dj moonbat only comments as anony and signs his name. I like it to be as easy as possible, but as we know, trolls don't have an honest bone in their bodies, so they'll keep trying to get in and be assholes like petey. Anyone care? I'll be happy to delete, but if anyone wants to play with them, I'll step aside.

I say let's change it so that you cannot be anonymous. Then, they will at least have to work at posting. That is my vote.

As for the fucking double standard about blue collar vs white collar workers - it is so blatant and so extreme that if the Right Wing allows the auto industry to go under, they will lose every election for the next generation.

We have to make certain that the people know just who is behind all of this. We have to make noise that the people all over the country will hear about who is to blame if the auto industry has to file bankruptcy.

I've changed the comment rules - you have to be a registered user of Blogger or an affiliate network to post. No more unattributed anonymity.

FYI - there are two more higher levels we can enact if we feel we need to.

Doesn't bother me, SOS. Thanks for the thought, though.

Tough day of checking some Structural Equation Models. I'll check in later.

I was listening to the Ed Schultz show yesterday (guest hosted by Norman Goldman) and a guy called in and said the Jewish bankers were to blame for the economic meltdown. He listed Greenspan and others (can't remember who). I was pretty shocked--we're back in 1930 Germany? My husband was shocked that I was shocked. He said people haven't evolved that much in 70 years.

iamcoyote said...

CG, I've seen commentors on lots of blogs blame the Jews, and you're hubby's right. We haven't evolved much. Sure, the scapegoats alternate, but it looks like we've come full circle again, doesn't it. Hell, the Bushies created another Gilded Age, why not go after the Jews again?

Seven of Six said...

If it ain't the Jews, it's the Mexicans or the blacks, liberal organizations or Unions.

That's what really gets my gander up... they have the nerve to blame others when the repukes rigged the system by deregulating everything.
They took their money and put it in off shore accounts.

Greenspan was correct when he testified to congress (paraphrase), "I found a flaw in the system." Yeah, there was a big flaw, it was greed and lots of it.

Just so you know CG, I blame white protestant men just as much!!

I'm just surprised at the blatant anti-semitism. I thought it was only ok to hate immigrants, Muslims, Arabs, gays and fat people. Didn't realize my kind was back on the list of approved people to hate and blame. I've honestly never really dealt with anti-semitism in my life. I've been very lucky. I have to say, I cringe at all the neo-cons who are Jewish. Greed and war are not Jewish values.

Sadly, scapegoating seems to be an American value, doesn't it?
